One of the things I enjoy as a family photographer working on location is that each photo shoot is very different and tells its own story. Today’s reportage is about a fun “girls’ morning” together, and I hope you will like it as much as I do.
A few years ago I photographed Petra and her two little daughters in Rotterdam. In the meantime the girls had grown quite a bit and got a baby sister! It was a good moment to update the family portraits. Petra wanted to photograph the sisters in a natural way as they play and have fun together. With a young baby it is a good choice to hold the photo session at one’s home. So we did, and the warm weather allowed us to spend some time in the garden as well.
The girls had great time playing with each other, their mommy and their little sister. They also found it fun to get pictures of their joyful faces distorted by a wide-angle lens placed close by. Looking at their “big eyes and noses” on my camera display made them giggle and ask for more. I like these pictures too: in those shiny eyes you see the girls’ curiosity, openness and the wild fun of their age.
There was also jumping the rope in the garden, reading a book and playing on a bed and more. And when I was pleasantly exhausted and about to leave, the girls had discovered their mother’s shoes, put them on and paraded around the house. Totally spontaneous, totally fun. So much fun that the elder sister now considers a career as a photo model.
I enjoyed that photo session a lot, thank you dear ladies!
