Mariëlle was looking for a special present for her husband’s anniversary. And what can be more special than artistic and emotional portraits of your children? Mariëlle and Arjen have three wonderful children: Daniël who just got 11 and the 7-year old twins Félice and Frédérique.
We held our photo session on a sunny spring morning at the Arboretum Trompenburg garden in Rotterdam. A symphony of blossoms, flowers and colors! We could not have enough of beautiful settings: joyous and pure, magical and romantic, helping to bring our different sides of each child’s personality. The gorgeous surroundings gave a painterly feel to the images; it almost makes me think of Pre-Raphaelites.
We started with a small walk through the park with Félice. Félice plays hockey, loves horses, and her favorite color is pink. What a serene yet self-conscious look does she have!
And here are some portraits of Frédérique. She is sporty like her sister, enjoys playing piano and her favorite color is blue. Frédérique has this expressive look and nonchalant sparkle in her eyes.
It’s funny that when the girls so their portraits for the first time they sometimes mistook themselves for their sister. The difference in the girls’ character became clear to me after a minute of chatting with them, and I can always see it back in the photos.
Now meet the handsome elder brother Daniël, who waited patiently for his little diva sisters. Daniël likes to sport and is also really good in math. It is important because he would like to become an architect!
We have made a whole wall art collection and a lovely album with the photos from this wonderful photo walk. And I have yet to share some photos of the twins, all kids and the family together. Stay tuned!
